Gunfire on the block
Crime: There was a 911 call at 230am by a child, 1/2 a block from me. London Police show up and two are hit by gunfire. Unconfirmed possible murder of two people. A fire too and two other cops sent to hospital with smoke inhalation. Two adults and three kids live in the residence.
I got woken up by sirens. Lots of them. Police cars and fire trucks tearing up and down my street, reversing fast, coming back. more trucks and sirens. Went on for a couple of hours. I got up and heard from a neighbour that the person a couple of doors down from me was passing the house on the way to work when the shooting happened.
I grabbed the camera when I was awake and went up to the crime scene. Shot some pics of the various police and SIU vehicles, and the press conference. And have decided that Hamilton might be a nice place to visit.
Seriously. This is crazy. Living in Toronto before moving here to London, I never got this close to the action. I moved to London to get away from that level of stress and crime and such. Half a block away is too close...
