Repair CD release Party
*photo from the Repair site by Tracey Custodio.
music: The electronic music group Repair who have a distinctive brand of 'minimalist house' music, is composed of Dawn Lewis and twin brothers Matt and Mark Thibideau of Toronto. They are having a CD release party. It's tomorrow, Thursday July 21st, it's in Toronto, and I have an invite to go!
The party - which will also be a live performance, is going to be broadcast in streaming audio to iTunes at 10pm Eastern. The station is netmusique.com (the electrique stream), which can also be found on the web at the same location.
Here are details on one of their recent disks Convenient Arrangements from a European online music store. And a link to some samples of their music from the same site.
Matt and Mark are referred to in various places as uncompromising in their music. As the singer/frontwoman, Dawn was described on the Harbourfront Centre Beats, Breaks, and Culture page (now in the Google cache only) as having "lush, sultry vocals." I will have to ask her what she thinks of that. :)
I am not sure if I could give a good review of the party because I know next to nothing about this scene, but I might give it a shot. Perhaps I can add rockstar photographer to my repetoire too... :)
Carpe Diem
