Route Recce's
Did two today. Wanted to hunt out some bike routes. As I ride farther, the research gets longer. Mapped out a route to St. Mary's, which is a small town North East of London. I stopped there and took a few pics - three I posted on my Buzznet photoblog. Never been there before. Quite a pretty little place. Round trip will be somewhere near 120km or so. Steep, I know, but with a good pace - and maybe company, it will be good. Power Gels. Lots of them. There is going to be a wicked hill on Medway West of Richmond at about the 95km mark too. Three tiers, about a km long. They might be nice as part of a shorter, more frequent 40-50km loop. Nice. :P

Later, I co-piloted the lil' black Honda as Steph got in some wheel time before her road test in late August. We went East on Hamilton through Nilestown, Dorchester, Putnam and Ingersol. It got quite sideroad like, with rolling hills and tree covered sections near the far end when we turned around just before Beachville. Never been down that far before, and since it was getting dark and we had no map - it was in the CRV, I decided turning around would be good. That will be a ride to do. A straight out and back sort of thing. No more than 70km I imagine.

And the TV gods smiled on me when I got in an hour ago. A replay of the final stage to Paris. It meant I didn't have to put up with the Democratic convention in the States. Spending millions on essentially re-branding the candidates. There is nothing to choose, Kerry and Edwards are in for the Dems. It's just a three day commercial. But I am not going to go further. Got to burn a CD for Steph.

Carpe Diem
