OMG Yellow USPS gear!
Took the bike to Reynolds Cycle (Meg and Exeter) to get a slow leak in the tire fixed, and to put a couple of bar ends on the bike so I can vary the hand positions more on long rides. Tried on some helmets - Giro's and Trek's, and curiously at this point am leaning towards a smaller sized Louis Garneau one which I would not have considered before. Nice ratcheting mechanism for sizing and quite comfortable. Much more so than the Treks. Going to bring my current helmet down later when I pick up the bike and see if there is a real difference.
While there, the delivery came in. It was the newest of the new US Postal Team Gear. The same that the boys wore down the Champs D'Elysee on the final day of the Tour this year. With the Discovery Channel across the chest and the Yellow accents to them on the arms and collar. Once I wiped the drool, I asked if there was more than one. There was literally one on the counter beside the freshly opened box... I was figuring it would be more than a couple of months before they would appear up here - if at all. The guy at the counter (where you can now purchase some LAF wrist bands too) said they were getting very, very few in. I believe him, USPS gear is quite rare. And these will certainly be the only ones ever with the USPS and Discovery Logos on them.
I am the first person in London to get one. Numero Un!
Like Christmas in August for Mike! :)
ps: I kinda get Jo and the Beckham jersey thing now... though I wear mine riding... Not sure if she plays soccer in it too much... :)
Carpe Diem
