roof nail + bike tire = walking
Went for a ride this morning. Nothing special. About 2.3km. Near Brydges and Highbury, I ran over what I thought was a tack. Thought I would leave it in and turn around - pulling it out just flattens a tire faster after all. But it was a roofing nail about an inch long and was clear through the tire vertically right to the rim. Icouldn't ride on it as I could have damaged the rim.
So I pulled the damn thing out in disgust and then with the high pressure hissing had turned the tire completly flat, I walked home. Thirty mins later, I was home and sticking the bike in the truck to take it to the bike shop to get it fixed before work. The irony was that this was the tube I repaired a slow leak in before riding to St. Mary's with K. a couple of weeks ago... All I wanted to do today was tick over a milestone of 1700km for the year so far. Starting out at 1695.4km I was close... heheh. Frustrating. Oh well, leave that for Wednesday. Looks like it might actually be warmer over the next few.
Carpe Diem
