Hatfields and McCoys
Local Drama: The retired neighbours one house to the South and my landlord don't get along. Not sure what started all of this back in the mists of time, but I get along with them fine and chat with them as I come and go to work and so on. Well, the landlord has upped the ante a bit. He is building a fence. Right down the driveway. It is a mutual driveway of sorts with a small curbstone strip partition down the middle. But that's not good enough, so he is going to have what appears from the fence posts and holes, a tall and substantial wood fence put up. And from what I can tell it is going to go beyond the front of our house and interfere with the sight lines of the neighbour's front porch.

The first two houses on the street are set probably 15 feet closer to the curb than the rest of the houses on the street. We are the third house and prior to the fence going up, the neighbours would have had a nice unobstructed view right up the street for blocks - and they spent a lot of time there in the summer. If that doesn't piss them off, I am not sure what will. I would not be impressed with that. I can see a fence between the houses if there was an actual privacy issue. But having it stick out more than 15 feet from the front of the house I live in? No reason to do that. And I question whether it will stay up for long that close to the street. The neighbours could take it to the city I am sure.

Oh, and after not being able to get to sleep before 4am ( wasn't podcasting, just couldn't sleep), the landlord calls me and wakes me before 930am to get me to move the CRV so they can dig one of the holes. No warning that this was the plan for today. With the post hole auger digger and mini cement mixer the contracters are using, sleep is done for this morning. I am glad it's an early 'Friday' for me. I am taking a 3 day weekend in lieu of working Thanksgiving, but I am going to be pretty tired by the time I leave work tonite at 11pm.

Carpe Diem
