Long Ride #1 done cycling: 3hrs 14m not including a couple of stops at Poplar hills, ilderton and traffic lights.
The route: Thames Bike Path to Byron, Commish west to Kilworth, to Komoka. North on Komoka rd for some distance to Poplar Hills, then East on the Ilderton side road thru Ilderton to Hyde Park rd. Stopped for a few mins at the sports field there, then Hyde Park rd south to Sarnia rd, and Sarnia/UWO/ bike path to the Forks and home.
Had intended to turn East in Komoka to head back to Lobo line and Gainsborough but missed the turn off. So I kept going North - knowing eventually I would reach Medway or Fanshawe/Egremont/Hwy22. Wind was rough going on each easterly leg. What would have been 45-50km, ended up being just over 70km. Last couple were just cool down km in the neighbourhood, but 70 is good. Quite pleased.
Temp was about 12C when I left and 15C when I got back. Lots of sunshine. Shorts and jersey with the blue long sleeve zip liner (matches the USPS classic jersey quite nicely thankyouverymuch. :)
If anyone local to London knows where I can buy some PowerGels cheap, let me know. I used three and only have one left.
Carpe Diem
