Streets and Trips is Brilliant!! geeks stuff: The Microsoft Streets and Trips 2005 now with extra tasty GPS, is simply the best piece of software I have seen in a very long period of time. I sat in Starbucks it the huge rainstorm this afternoon and mapped out legs of my trip to Newfoundland. You can factor in how often you want to take breaks, how long you want to drive in a day, average speeds, fuel burn rates, metric or US measurments. Setting way points and revising the route is a piece of cake. And saving the stages as files is a snap. I have from London, Ont to St. Anthony, NL and back down to Port Aux Basques, NL done. Took me a couple of hours. I only have to reverse the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick segments and then 401 back. And the GPS USB plug in was recognized seemlessly by XP and I used it as a start point for the whole deal. Two weeks today, it will be put to the test.
I almost had Kelly come along as a last minute co-pilot, but it didn't work out for various reasons - though it was fun for both of us to think about for a couple of days. I have promised to get a couple of good pictures instead. I think I can manage that. :)
Carpe Diem
