Snopes internet life: OK. Time for my twice a year little, uh, thingy, about urban legends and passing on emails with !!!!!!! and THIS IS TRUE!!! TELL EVERYONE!!!!.
Before you send me one of those emails, and I get them now and then from well meaning and otherwise bright and intelligent folks, I want you to do some research to see if it is true. Just because a trusted friend of a friend's sister's boyfriend's roomate's mom's accountant found out X and it has been a maelstrome o' bits on the internet flowing from SMTP to POP and back for a few days doesn't automatically make it or anything real. And may have been floating around the net since 1996 and only has recently started to make the rounds again.
Go to places like Snopes. See if there is something to it. Because, you know I probably will. And perhaps I will press the dreaded "reply all" button and make sure everyone on the distro knows that you and the previous folks got conned. And you can then blush by the light of your monitor as you read what you should have researched better before you sent it to everyone in your address book.
Be warned. :)
The truth is out there... but not everything out there is the truth.
Carpe Diem

The truth is better than inaccurate convictions. Patience has its virtue, yet also has its limit.
