Sony rootkit mayhem
spyware: Sony has included, according to this post on eclecticism and the related Wired News article, spyware with some of it's music that installs an app on Windows PCs that sends info back to Sony but leave computers wide open. And the removal of the 'rootkit' causes huge damage to the PC. Before you buy your next Sony labelled CD, think about what it could be doing.

I've been slowly percolating an opinion piece on Sony's rootkit mess-up. This is precisely why letting vendors run amok with their own half-baked DRM solutions is an incredibly bad idea.
